A total of 32 people, including Rohingyas, were arrested by the coastguards while going to Malaysia on the sea route on Saturday.
They were arrested during a raid in different parts of St. Martin’s coast along with Steradipi.
There are at least 22 Rohingyas and three brokers among the detainees.
A trawler was seized during the operation. Police also participated in the operation. The arrested brokers are Mohammad Kabir, Mohammad Abdullah, Mohammad Hossain. They are all residents of St. Martin.
St. Martin Station In-charge Commander Sheikh Mahmud Hasan said the raid was carried out in various places on the coast of St. Martin on receiving such a secret news that Rohingyas were being trafficked to Malaysia by sea.
In the operation, 32 people were detained from places in Saint-Martin. Of these, there are 22 Rohingyas. Besides, three brokers have been detained.
Police personnel from the local outpost participated in the operation. There is a legal process in this regard.
