Covid-19 in BD: 32 die, 2,611 infected, 1,020 recover in 24 hours

Bangladesh on Saturday reported death of 32 more people from Covid-19 and detected 2,611 as positive in the last 24 hours, Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.  
“With the new cases, the death toll reached 3,365 and the death rate now stands at 1.32 percent. The total number of infected persons now stand at 2,55,113,” said Professor Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration) of the DGHS, in a press briefing in Dhaka.
She said that about 11,737 samples were tested in 84 laboratories across the country. The current infection rate is 22.25 per cent, while the total infection rate stands at 20.42 per cent.
The country has tested 12,49,507 samples so far across the country.
Besides, 1,020 Covid-19 patients have recovered while total number of recoveries stands at 1,46,604 and the recovery rate at 57.47 per cent.
Meanwhile, 865 people were put under isolation in the last 24 hours, the DGHS official said.
She said, 19,025 people are currently in isolation while 52,942 are home and institutionally quarantined in the country.
Among the deceased, 25 were males and seven were females. One was between 21-30 years, four between 41-50, twelve were between 51-60 years, 10 between 61-70, four were between 71-80 and one was between 81-90 years.
Of them, Dhaka division saw 16 deaths while five died in Khulna, two in Sylhet and one in Barishal division. Chattrogram and Rajshahi divisions recorded four deaths each, she said.
The DGHS official noted that over 1,600 people died in Dhaka division since March 18.
Dr. Sultana said, “So far, 1,613 patients have died in Dhaka division, 798 in Chattogram, 209 in Rajshahi, 252 in Khulna, 132 in Barishal, 158 in Sylhet, 132 in Rangpur and 71 in Mymensingh division.”
