Chittagong Bureau :In two separate incidents, police detained five yaba traders from Chittagong area for alleged involved with the yaba trafficking yesterday. Detective Branch of Chittagong Metropolitan Police yesterday detained two drug peddlers from Fisheryghat area under Kotwali thana area in city and recovered about 30 thousand pieces of yaba tablets worth about Tk.1 crore. The detained yaba traders are identified as Md. Akhter Hossain(42), son of late Abdul Hoque of Chandpur district and Md. Azam(50), son of late Sultan Ahmed of Fatikchari upazila of Chittagong. Additional Deputy Police commissioner of DB, Md. Babul Akhter confirmed the matter of arrest of drug peddlers alongwith yaba tablets from Fisheryghat in city. These tablets contains 150 packets of 200 pieces in each packet, sources said. Police sources said a team of DB police conducted raid in M/s. Azam Mechanics shop and recovered these yaba tablets and rounded up them in redhanded. The detained confessed that these yaba were brought from Teknaf area in a fishing trawler yesterday, police said.Meanwhile, Lohagara Thana police in south Chittagong rounded up 3 drug peddlers from Khandighi area of Chunati union under Lohagara upazila on Thursday morning. Police recovered 1500 pieces of yaba from their possession. The detained yaba traders are Nurul Bashar (37), son of Md. Ekram of Pahartali , Chittagong, Shafique Alam(35), son of late Bazal Ahmed of Anowara upazla of south Chittagong, and Abdul Gafur (34) , son of late Abbas Ali of Cox’sBazar thana. Police sources said they confessed about their involvement in yaba trafficking since long.
