Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Dr Atiur Rahman called upon all the central banks of the SAARC region to work closer to take a march for advanced economy.
The region’s central banks should work together for better sustainable growth and stability over the longer term, said the governor while addressing the 30th SAARC Finance Governor’s Symposium at a city hotel on Friday.
Ashraf Mahmood Wathra, Governor, State Bank of Pakistan and Chairperson, SARRAC Finance Network presided at the meeting.
BB governor stressed for financial inclusion for ensuring easy banking for all.
“New financial products will have to introduce and at the same time technological facilities will have to extend for enhancing financial inclusion”, said Atiur Rahman.
He stressed on the quality growth where a broad based people could be included in the growth process, which can also foster financial stability in an economy.
In the upcoming days, we will have to ensure our safe and sound technology-based payment system, said the governor.
Chairperson of the group meeting Ashraf Mahmood Wathra stated that SARRAC Finance has already achieved some progress on managing short term liquidly crisis of the member countries through creating SWAP arrangement, capacity building, exchange to knowledge, creation of regional data base and collaborative research.
