30,686 voters increased in Sylhet City

In the up- coming Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) Election- 2018, the number of voters have been increased by 30,686 than that of 2013 Election. New seven polling centres have been set up this year when total number of voters mounts to 3,21,732. The polling will be held on 30th July next.
 Alimuzzaman, Returning Officer of SCC election 2018, told this correspondent that all preparation has been set to conduct a free and fair election . Election Office source said the total number of voters in this election is 3,21,732 including 1,50,288 female ones.
At present the number of voters increased 30,686, of them 19,263 male and 11,423 female respectively. In July 2008, the 2nd SCC polling was held in 2013 when the total number of voters was then 2,56,408. In 2013 election, the number of polling centres was 127. This number has been increased to 134 this year. In the last polling, the number of polling booths was 896, compared to this year’s 927. Source said Election Commission has taken up steps to conduct the polling free and fair.
District Election Office source said highest number of voters is in ward No.-7 with total 18,573 including male 9498 and female 9075 respectively.
Minimum number of voter exists in ward No.-2 with 6754 voters. It is learnt that in ward No.-1 total number of voters is 8881.
Besides, 11,905 voters in 3rd ward, 8778 voters in 4th ward, 15,019 voters in 5th ward, 12,441 voters in 6th ward, in 8th ward 18,190 voters, in 9th ward 15,892 voters, In 10th ward total voters 15,868 voters, in 11th ward 13,010 voters, in 12th ward 9,877 voters,in 13th ward 9,519 voters, in 14th ward 9,158 voters , in 15th ward 10,379 voters , in 16th ward 9,419 voters , in 17th ward 13,793 voters, in 18th ward 11,619 voters, in 19th ward 11,626 voters , in 20th ward 10,564 voters, in 21st ward 11,933 voters, in 22nd ward 10,197 voters, in 23rd ward 12,722 voters, in 24th ward 12,722 voters, 25th in ward 12,646 voters , in 26th ward 14,142 voters, in 27th ward, 11,840 voters. This year, the first ever election will be held under own party symbols
