Joint drives: 301 including Jamaat- Shibir men held in dists

A team of joint forces arrested 46 people including 36 activists of Jamaat-Shibir from different places of the district on Monday morning.
A team of the ‘joint force’, comprising members of police, Rapid Action Battalion and Border Guard Bangladesh, conducted the drive in different areas of seven upazilas of the district from Sunday night to Monday morning and arrested the 46 people, said sub-inspector of the Special Branch of Satkhira police Enamul Haque.
Among the arrestees, 10 are from Sadar, three from Kolaroa, two from Tala, seven from Kaliganj, four from Shyamnagar, four from Ashashuni, 12 from Debhata, and four from Patkelghata upazilas.
Mymensingh Correspondent says: Law enforcers in their separate drives have arrested 162 activists of BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir in Mymensingh in fourteen upazilas of the district. The arrests were made in separate drives from Saturday night.
Islami Chhatra Shibir leaders Abdus Salam, Tayzul Islam Pappo and Zila Jubo Dal Secretary Khondoker Masud were among the arrestees.
Superintendent of Police, Mymensingh, Moinul Haque said police along with members of Rapid Action Battalion and Border Guard Bangladesh conducted the drives in the district town.
The break-up of arrest is Sadar upazila 36, Muktagacha 11,Goforgao 7,Valoka 9,Fulpor, 1, Issorgong, 3, Fulbaria, 7,Tarakanda, 5, Dhobaora, 3, Pagla,7, Goripur, 7, Nandail, 8, upazilas and arrested the BNP-Jamaat men in cases filed in connection with violence. The arrestees were fugitive in several cases filed with different police stations of the district.
Another case’s Mymensingh district detective branch of Police were arrested 12 BNP activist, 6 Jamaat, 2 Sibir men’s.
Barisal Correspondent reports: Forty-four leaders and activists of Jamaat-e- Islami Bangladesh and its student front Islami Chhatra Shibir have been arrested from different areas of Barisal and Pirojpur districts on Sunday.
Shakhawat Hossain, Barisal Kotwali police station officer in charge, said Advocate Salahuddin Masum, law affairs secretary of JIB Barisal city unit and councilor of ward-14 of Barisal City Corporation, was arrested from Zilla School Crossing on Sunday noon.
Advocate Masum was arrested as accused in 3 cases of sabotage including arson attack on law chamber of district AL secretary and lawmaker Advocate Talukdar Md. Yunus.
Besides Bazlur Rahman Bachchu, city vice president of JIB arrested from his resident at Alekanda area of the city on Sunday late afternoon as accused in different cases of participating and planning sabotage, police sources said.
The arrested JIB leaders would be send to jail after producing before the court, Abu Sayed, assistant commissioner of Barisal Metropolitan Police added.
On other hand law enforcers operating night long drives in different areas of under Pirojpur district arrested 42 JIB, Shibir,BNP activists on Sunday.
Md Walid Hossain, Pirojpur district superintendent of police, the arrestees included Mawlana Rafikul Islam, JIB leader and Imam of Vaijora Masjid and 4 other activists of JIB in Sadar upazila.
Chapainawabganj Correspondent adds : Police in an overnight drive from Sunday night till early Monday arrested 41 people including three Jamaat-Shibir activists from different upazilas of the district.
Al Mamun, additional superintendent of police, said police conducted separates drive from Sunday night to Monday morning and arrested 14 people from Sadar upazila, eight from Shibganj, six from Gomostopur upazila, eight from Nachole upazil and 5 from five other upazilas.
Among the arrestees, three were Jamaat-Shibir men, added the ASP.
UNB from Meherpur says: Police in a drive arrested 22 people, including 15 activists of Jamaat-e-Islami, from different parts of the district early Sunday.
Police said a team of police conducted separate drives in different parts of the district in the dead of night and arrested 22 people.
Additional superintendent of police Ahmar Uzzaman said the 15 Jamaat men were wanted in different cases filed for sabotage.
