3,000 women become self-reliant in Joypurhat

More than 3,000 distressed women in five upazilas of the district have become self-reliant economically by receiving training on various income-generating programmes and loans from Women Affairs Department (WAD).
The department under its women assistance programme from 1998 provided training to 200 helpless women every year to make them self- reliant.
The training on sewing, block-boutique, candle making, embroidery, beautician and mobile servicing provided by the department in the five training centres at Sadar, Panchbibi, Akkelpur, Khetlal and Kalai upazilas.
Sabina Sultana, an official of WAD told that the department has also been providing soft loan to the trained women to make them self- reliant.
