3,000 flood-hit families get relief in Rangpur

Rangpur unit of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) distributed relief materials among 3,000 flood-affected families of Mithapukur and Pirganj upazilas in the district yesterday.
“We distributed the relief goods at two separate functions with assistance of Grameen Phone to mitigate sufferings of the flood-affected people,” Shah Md Nabi Ullah Panna, Rangpur unit secretary of BDRCS told BSS.
Under the programme, each of the 3,000 flood-hit families of different villages under the two upazilas received 15-kilogram rice, two-kilogram lentil, one-litre soybean oil and one-kilogram salt, one kg sugar and one- kilogram ‘shuji’, Panna added.
Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Administration Ministry HN Ashiqur Rahman, distributed relief goods among 1,500 flood-hit families of Mithapukur upazila at a function held on Milanpur Union Parishad office premises as chief guest.
Member of the board of management of BDRCS and its vice-resident for Rangpur unit Rehana Ashequr Rahman presided over the function.
At another function held on Chatra Union Parisahd office premises, Pirganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kamal Kumar Ghosh distributed the relief materials among 1,500 flood-hit families of Pirganj upazila as chief guest.
