Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Saturday disclosed the names of top 300 loan defaulters at the Jatiya Sangsad.
The minister came up with the disclosure in response to a query by ruling party lawmaker Md Israfil Alam.
In a scripted answer, AHM Mustafa Kamal said the top 300 loan defaulters have defaulted loan of Tk 50,942 crore at banks.
The top 300 defaulters owe Tk 70,571 crore from the country’s banks and financial institutions, as per the Credit Information Bureau of Bangladesh Bank.
Of the amount, Tk 52,837 crore has been rated as classified.
With an outstanding debt of Tk 1,049 crore, Samannaz Super Oil Ltd tops the list of 300 defaulters followed by Galaxy Sweater and Yarn Dyeing Limited Tk 984 crore and Rimex Footwear Tk 976 crore.

There are a total of 1,70,390 loan defaulters in the country, Kamal told the House adding that the amount of total loan default in all scheduled banks and financial institutions stood at Tk 1,02,315 crore as of December 2018.
