300 homeless getting house thru’ Ashrayan Project in Saidpur

Some 300 homeless are getting their dream houses in Government’s Ashrayan Project and better life.
According to the commitment of the government, under Ashrayan-II Project of 2017-18 government has taken initiative to implement the commitment of the housing project for the homeless people. Under this project, one lakh taka allotted for the construction of one house with a latrine for the poor landless families in Saidpur Upazila. In this, 300 people of five unions of the Upazila were selected. Upazila Executive Officer and Project Implementation Officer are responsible for the implementation of the project. After scrutiny, all the chairmen of the Union Parishad formed a list of homeless people.
Sources informed that those who have 10 percent of the land, but those who do not have a house or are unable to live, they will enjoy the benefits of this project. Besides, there are not only those who are poor, helpless freedom fighters, widowed women, husband abandonment, disabled, unable to earn, beggars, old aged and the families who are unable to earn, will get the benefit. In 2017-18 fiscal year three crore taka allotted for the construction of houses for 300 families in Saidpur Upazila. 60 houses in 5 Union will be constructed which means total 300 houses. It is under the supervision of the Upazila Project Implementation Officer Mofakhkharul Islam (Member Secretary), Upazila Engineer, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (land) and concerned Union Council Chairman and a five member committee with PIC.
Upazila Project Implementation Officer and member secretary of the house building committee Mofakhkharul Islam said that 300 homeless people are being rehabilitated in the Upazila. The construction work is being done through the committee. We also shared views with the homeless about this.
Task Force President of Upazila Ashrayon-2 Project and Saidpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Bazlur Rashid said, the honorable Prime Minister has given the allocation of Tk. 3 crore for the construction of houses of the homeless people. Houses are being constructed keeping and maintaining the quality, design and estimation.
On July 28, Nilphamari Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Khaled Rahim visited the houses under Khatamadhudpur Union and expressed his satisfaction.
