Chittagong city corporation is going to establish a “Apparel Zone” over 10 acres of land owned by CCC in Kalurghat area with the financial assistance of BGMEA. CCC sources said Architect Engineer Abdullah al Omar submitted the architectural design of the proposed apparel zone before the city mayor AJM Nasiruddin at latter’s office on Monday.
Chief executive Officer of CCC Kazi Shafiul Alam , Secretary Rashid ahmed, PS to the Mayor Md. Manzurul Alam were present during submission of the plan. CCC sources also said there will be 50 garments factory in AZ where atleast 30 thousand workers will get change for employment.
Besides, factories, provisions for child care centre, healthcare centre, facilities of pure drinking water, prayer house , sewerage facitlites, auto generators , power plants, amusement centre and cargo lift also proposed in the AZ. Sources said a MOU in between the BGMEA
RMG sector will be benefitted as well as the income of the CCC will go ahead.
Construction worker dies from electrocution : A construction worker died after being electrocuted at Kala Miah Bazar under Bakalia Police Station in Chittagong city on Sunday.
The identity of the worker, aged around 22, could not be known immediately.
Police said the man came contact in with a live electric wire while working in an under construction building around 12:30pm.
