Atleast 30 female students of Khaleda Zia hall at Rajshahi University got sick on Tuesday having unhygienic foods at the dining hall. Three of them were admitted to Rajshahi University Medical Centre in critical state.
Hall officials and student sources said, around 10 female students of the hall felt sick from various food borne diseases including diarrhea after having meal on Saturday night.
Resident students of the hall and RU medical sources said, feeling sick, atleast 5 students were admitted to the university medical centre yesterday morning.
Among the three were in critical state. They were Mariyam Aktar, a second year student of Bangla, Arniya, student of management department and Monira Sultana, a first year student of fine arts, RU medical centre sources said.
Among others, Rahima Khatun of botany, Mou of geography, Irin Sultana of statistics, Akhi Akter of crop science, Sabina Akter of Sociology, Priyanka of applied chemistry, Hasna Hena of psychology department had also taken first aid to the medical centre.
They were affected from various food borne diseases.
Mariyam could not attend her second year final exam for diarrhea which was held yesterday adding she was pushed saline thrice. She have to wait one year for the missing exam.
The students of the hall alleged that the hall authorities did not take any effective measurement to provide hygienic food.
If the authorities concerned did not take any initiatives over dining food, we would be compelled to go a tougher movement, they warned.
Contacted, hall provost Prof Dilruba Akhter Banu denied the allegation and told that it might be the students were felt sick having meal from outside of the hall.
