Thirty new modern bus stoppages will be constructed soon in Dhaka South City Corporation area.
“Most of the helpers and drivers stop buses here and there, regardless of the busy roads and the streets. It is creating traffic gridlock in many places of the Dhaka city,” said Razib Khadim, the Executive Engineer of the Traffic Engineering Circle of DSCC.
He said, “As a result of 30 new bus stoppages the traffic gridlock will come down.”
The Tk 8.26 crore project included standard pavement, tea stall, mineral water and phone charging systems.
The project will be at site by June in this year as per the schedule. Officials said, the bus stoppages will be constructed after dividing the city in three traffic zones.
There will be constructed 12 stoppages on both sides of the Manik Mia Avenue to Azimpur. Another 12 stoppages will be constructed on the both sides of the Moghbazar to Sadarghat route. More six stoppages will be constructed of the both sides of Jatrabari to Shahbagh-Panthapath route.
