About 30 people were injured when miscreants opened fire on a campaign of the Jatiya Party candidate from Chattogram-16 at Bashkhali upazila.
The rally of the candidate, Mahmudul Islam Chowdhury, started around 4:00pm at Chambol Bazar, our local staff correspondent reports.
“After a short while, miscreants opened fire on the rally injuring 30 people,” said Tarikul Islam Chowdhury, campaign coordinator for Mahmudul.
Among the injured, seven are in critical state, Tarikul claimed; adding that they suspect
Awami League men are behind the attack.
Protesting the attack, supporters of Mahmudul blocked the Bashkhali-Cattogram highway. The blockade continued till the filing of the report at 8:20pm.
