30 hurt in BNP rival groups clash in Moheskhali

Atleast 30 people were injured in a clash between two groups of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) activists of Moheskhali upazila Tuesday midnight over the supporting BNP nominated two upazila candidates.
 The injured were admitted at Moheskhali Upazila Hospital and different local clinics, source said.
Sources said , former MP and central member of BNP Alamgir Farid supported his nephew Habib Ullah and Joint Secretary of BNP Salah Uddin Ahmed supported running upazila Chairman Abu Bakkar leveling BNP for upazila polls where polls are scheduled for 1 March, the second phase of the upazila elections.
In this reason, local BNP activists were divided into two groups. Abu Bakkar Siddiqee’s supporters announced that Salah Uddin Ahmed would come to Moheskhali on 26 February to campaign for Abu Bakkar Siddiqe.
Hearing this announcement the activities of Alamgir Farid group gathered at the Natun Bazar area and they brought out a procession.
When they returned Natun Bazaar area Abu Bakkar group came there and attacked each other. During the clash at least 30 people were injured. The shopkeepers closed their shops were got afraid.
Alamgir Hossen, OC of Moheskhali PS said, being informed police rushed to the spot quickly and took the situation under control.
