At least thirty people were injured as they fell down from the roof of a moving train near Mymensingh rail station adjacent to Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) Dhumketu field on Tuesday noon .
Locals said the accident took place as passengers, traveling on the roof a Mahanganj-bound Mahua train, were knocked down by relatively lowered down trees from both side of the rail track near the station.
Later, locals and staff of the University’s Security Branch rescued them and send to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
DB sub-inspector (SI) Ziaul Huq said, traveling on the roof of train is legally punishable. To avoid accidents, we forbid passengers to travel on the roof. Of the 30 injured, 4-5 people are in critical condition. The rest will recover soon, the SI hoped.
