3 women back home after languishing in Indian jail

UNB, Benapole :Three Bangladeshi women returned home from India on Friday night after languishing in a jail of the country for two years.Indian Border Security Force (BSF) handed them over to the Bangladeshi authorities through Benapole check post in the night.The victims were identified as Gita Mandal, 36, hailing from Barisal, Anuj Roy, 45, hailing from Chittagong, and Anjali Mandal, 19, hailing from Satkhira district.Aslam Khan, officer-in-charge of Benapole immigration police, said human traffickers had sent the women to India illegally with a false assurance of helping them find lucrative jobs there two and a half years ago.Later, they were sent to a Delhi jail after Indian police arrested them in Delhi.Frequent contacts between the home ministries of India and Bangladesh made it possible to bring them back home.
