At least 11 people, including three women, sustained bullet injuries in a clash between two factions of local Awami League over establishing supremacy in Lohagarah upazila on Wednesday.
The injured were identified as Mohammad Mannan, 20, Nurul Alam, 37, Nurul Kabir, 37, Mohammad Enamul Hauqe, 28, Jamal Uddin, 67, Manju Begum, 50, Mina Koli, 18, Mohammad Robin, 18, Minhazur Rahman, 22, Bimal Dey, 40, and Rasheda Begum, 55.
Locals said Nurul Absar, deputy publicity secretary of district (South) unit Awami League, and Salah Uddin Hiru, general secretary of its Lohagarah upazila unit, had been at loggerheads over establishing supremacy in the area.
As a sequel to the enmity, both groups equipped with firearms and lethal weapons attacked each other in the local bus stand area in the morning, leaving 11 people injured.
Mohammad Shahjahan Miah, officer-in-charge of Lohagarah Police Station, confirmed the incident.
