Unidentified miscreants gunned down three activists of United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF) over the dispute of establishing supremacy at Korolyachhari in Baghaichhari upazila of Rangamati early Monday.
The deceased were identified as Sunil Chakma Sonjit, 30, Atol Chkama, 30, and Smrity Chakma, 50.
Kanon Chakma, another activist of the party, was injured in the attack which took place around 5:00am, our Rangamati correspondent reports quoting the party leaders.
Niron Chakma, Secretary of UPDF’s Publicity and Publication, claimed that gun trotting goons of PCJSS and UPDF
(Democratic) attacked the UPDF men at a house at Korolyachhari around 5:00am and shot the trio dead on the spot.
UPDF Baghaichhari upazila organizer Jewel Chakma blamed Neo-UPDF (Democratic) and MN Larma-led Parbatya Chattogram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS) for the killings.
Meanwhile, denying UPDF’s claim, Shudhakar Tripura, Secretary of Central PCJSS’s information and publicity, told the media that there is no connection with his party in regard to this incident.
Confirming the shooting incident, Nurul Anwar, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sajek Police Station, said that law enforcers recovered the bodies.
