The Third Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka yesterday sentenced three persons to death in a case filed for the murders of a woman and her son in the city’s Kakrail area in 2017.
Judge Md Rabiul Alam of the court pronounced the verdict on Sunday.
The death row convicts are victim’s husband Abdul Karim, his second wife Sharmin Akter Mukta, and her brother Al-Amin alias Jonny.
It is to noted that Shamsunnahar, 45, and her son Shaon, 19 were killed on their 79/A Anjuman Mofidul Islam Road residence, Kakrail on November 1, 2017.
Following the incident, Shamsunnahar’s brother Ashraf Ali filed the case with Ramna Model Police Station on November 2, 2017 against her husband Abdul Karim, a wholesale spice trader based in Shyambazar, his second wife Sharmin Mukta, her brother Jonny and others.
Ramna Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Ali Hossain on July 16. 2018, submitted charge sheet of the case in the court against Karim, Mukta and Jonny.
The 3rd Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Robiul Islam on January 31, 2019, framed charges against the accused and recorded the depositions of 17 out of 22 prosecution witnesses on different dates.
