A court here on Tuesday condemned three people to death for killing an electrician in Old Dhaka in 2010.
The condemned convicts are Md Rubel, 21, a resident of Companyganj in Bhandaria upazila of Dhaka, Md Rumman, 20, a resident of Matuwail of Jatrabari and Md Ronny Biswas, 20, a resident of Sutrapur.
Judge Mohammad Rezaul Islam of Dhaka Special Judge’s Court-5 handed down the verdict around 12:40pm.
According to the prosecution, the convicts strangulated Md Rubel at Shah Kamal Hotel at Jonson Road
in Old Dhaka on June 6, 2010 as a sequel to a previous enmity.
Later, police recovered Rubel’s body and arrested the trio from MIM Hotel of the area on June 7, 2010.
Victim’s brother Maran Miah filed a case against the three people.
On December 29, 2012, police submitted the chargesheet against the three.
After examining 12 witnesses and evidences, the Judge handed down the verdict.
