District and Sessions Judge of Narsingdi Mohammad Shofiqul Karim on Sunday awarded death sentence to three persons for killing a school student. The judge also fined the convicts taka one lakh.
Those who were awarded death penalty are :Alamgir 26,son of Hafij uddin village Chator pur, PS- Bijaynagor under Brahmanbaria district, Shombu Charan Das -30, son of Shoba Chandar Das of Ramchandra pur village of Araihajar upazila of Naryangang and Monir hossain-27, village- Chator pur ,Bijoynagor of Brahamnbaria.
The case history in brief that convicted Alamgir and his brother Jahangir had a hair cutting shop at Madhobdi area in front of Mohoshomi Dying Factory the of Owner Jakir Hossain the father of victim. Shohag , a student of class seven of Madhobdi SP Institute. Shohag often went to that saloon in the evening. On 20-2-10 Shohag did not come back home as usual .At this his father Jakir Hossain went to that saloon and asked Jahangir the brother of convicted Alamgir about Shohag. But Jahangir did not reply appropriately. Then some relatives of Shohag went Chator pur village of Brahmanbaria district for in quest of Alamgir. But Alamgir was not found that home. When they asked the local people about Shohag Showing his Picture, the local people said that they saw Shohag With Alamgir in the morning.
That night Alamgir and Monir Hossain demanded Taka 20lakh to the father of Shohag. But shohag father refused the demand and he filed a kidnapping case against Alamgir and Monir Hossain with Narsingdi Sadar police station. After two day Feni district police arrested Alamgir. and according to his confession Police on 25 -2 10 recovered the decomposed body from a garden and later arrested Shombu Das the main follow-soldier of Alamgir, police so far did not arrest Monir Hossain another follow-soldier of Alamgir and the convict.
The court also released Momotaj Begum, Mohammad Jahangi (absconded) Hiron Miah, Anwar Hossain and Shohid ullah found them no guilty
PP Adv Nur Mohammad Rohul Amin appeared for the state while advocate Salah uddin and Adv Rofiqul Islam defended the accused.
