Kunio murder: 3 suspects put on remanded in C’nawabganj

A court here on Tuesday placed three people arrested in connection with the killing of Japanese citizen Hoshi Kunio on a two-day remand in an arms case.
Those remanded are Rajib Hossain alias Meril Sumon, 25, son of Hanif; Nawshad Hossain Rubel alias Kala Rubel, 27, son of Abdul Latif; and Kajal Chandra Barman alias Bharsa Kajal, 25, son of Bablu Chandra
Barman, hailing from Salban Shahipara of Rangpur city.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Nur Mohammad Shahriar Kabir passed the order after
 they were produced before the court seeking a seven-day remand. Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the three people from different parts of Sadar upazila early Friday for their suspected link to the killing.
The elite force also recovered firearms and sharp weapons from their possession. Tipped off, a team of RAB-5 conducted a drive in Satnoil Uttarpara area in Sadar upazila at around 1:20 am and arrested Rajib along with one pistol and two bullets.
Following the confessional statement of Rajib, the elite force conducted a raid on Bidirpur area and arrested Nawshad and Kajal along with one revolver and a sharp weapon. RAB filed a case against the trio for possessing arms. Hoshi Kunio, 65, was shot to death by unknown assailants near his farmhouse at Kachu Alutary in Kaunia upazila of Rangpur on October 3.
