Students boycott classes, exams demanding justice for classmate

A case has been filed against three persons on charge of the death of Sylhet Agriculture University (SAU) student Ghori M Wasim Abbas who was reportedly thrown out of a passenger bus.
SAU Proctor Prof Mrityunjay Kundu filed
the case with Moulvibazar Sadar Police station on Monday afternoon.
The accused are bus driver Jewel Ahmed, 26, his assistant Masuk Ali, 40, and Superviser Sebul Mia, 35, reports our Moulvibazar correspondent quoting police.
Moulvibazar Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sohel Ahmed said, “Wasim was run over by the speedy bus after the helper pushed him. Injured Wasim died in the hospital.”
On Sunday, both the driver and the helper of the bus were sent to jail.
Meanwhile, Sylhet Agricultural University students blocked the road at Sylhet Central Shaheed Minar demanding capital punishment to the accused on Monday.
The have been demanding justice for the murder of their classmate since Sunday.
The students on Monday boycotted classes and examinations in protest.
Besides, several hundred people, mainly students, organized human-chain in different areas of Moulivabzar and Sylhet districts on Monday.
Earlier on Saturday, Wasim Abbas, 21, a fourth-year student of the Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, Sylhet Agriculture University, was run over on Sylhet-Mymenshingh Highway in Moulvibazar while returning along with a friend boarded a bus of ‘Udar Paribahan’ after joining a wedding programme at Wasims’s village in Nabiganj.
