Atleast three school girls drowned in a pond at Mejagaon village under Tarail upazila of Kishoreganj district on Sunday afternoon.
The victim were identified as Sumaiya Akter (9), a student of class III , Tania Akter (7), a student of class II and daughter of Md. Abdus Salam of Mejagaon area in Routi Union of Tarail and Zuma Akter (6), a student of class I and daughter of Abdul Hye in Daudpur village under Tarail upazila of the district. They were students of Mejagaon Govt Primary School in Tarail Upazila.
Police and local said that they slipped into water and drowned in the pond near their house.
Locals found their floating bodies in the pond and recovered.
A UD case was field in this connection with Tarail Police Station.
