Three suspected robbers were beaten to death in an attack by a mob while they were fleeing after committing robbery at Zinda Bazar in Rupganj upazila early Saturday.
Mahmudul Islam, officer-in-charge of Rupganj Police Station, said a gang of robbers, numbering 7-8, stormed a house in the area and looted valuables around 3:45am.
Hearing screams, locals rushed in and caught three of them while the others managed to flee the scene.
Later the mob gave them a severe thrashing, leaving two of them dead on the spot and another injured.
The injured was rushed to Rupganj Upazila Health Complex where he succumbed to his injures around 9:30 am. Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
