Three officers of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) including a commanding officer have been dismissed from their jobs for their alleged involvement in the abduction and killing of seven people, including Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam. The sacked officers are Commanding Officer of Rab-11 Lt Col Tareque Sayeed Mohammad, Maj Arif Hossain and Lt Commander SM Masud Rana. Army and navy headquarters have already issued two separate notices each in this regard, higher authorities of the two forces confirmed this on Tuesday. Among the three officers posted in Narayanganj two were from the army and one from navy. Army officers were sent to early retirement and the navy officer was forced to retire, sources said. Narayanganj City Corporation panel mayor Nazrul Islam, senior lawyer Chandan Sarker, along with five others, were abducted from the Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road on 27 April afternoon. Later on 30 April, their floating bodies were recovered from the River Shitalakshya.
