Police are yet to arrest the sacked RAB trio although three days have already passed since the High Court (HC) order in this respect.On Sunday, the HC ordered for arrest of the trio for their alleged involvement in the killing of seven people, including Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam and senior lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarker.The three RAB officials are former Narayanganj RAB-11 Commanding Officer Lt Col Tarek Sayeed Mohammad, Major Arif Hossain and Lt Commander MM Rana.When asked about the arrest of the sacked RAB officials, Additional Inspector General of Police (Media) Jalaluddin Ahmed Chowdhury told The New Nation yesterday that he was not the right person to talk on the issue. “You better talk to our high-ups and concerned official dealing with the matter,” he added.Narayanganj police Superintendent Khandakar Mahid Uddin, however, said that they are sincere towards the High Court directive and will act in line with the court order after completion of some formalities. UNB adds: State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Tuesday said the three controversial Rab officials, already dismissed from their jobs for their alleged involvement in the killing of seven people after their abduction in Narayanganj, will be arrested by Wednesday in compliance with the High Court order.”As per the High Court order and the due process, the agency concerned has been given the necessary instruction, and they’ll be arrested by Wednesday,” he told to the news agency in the evening.Asked what actually the due process is, the state minister said, “As per the court order, the IGP has been informed first and then the SP of Narayanganj …the departments concerned of the Army have also been informed about it, and they’ll be arrested through the Army.”He said the ex-Rab officials will be produced before the court after their arrest.Sought comments over Khaleda Zia’s demand she made during her Narayanganj visit earlier in the day that the Rab officials be arrested by on Tuesday, Asaduzzaman said, “She (Khaleda) says so many things.”On May 5, the HC bench had also issued a suo moto rule asking the government to form a seven-member committee to investigate the allegation that Rab personnel were involved in the incident.Accordingly, the Public Administration Ministry formed the committee which held a public hearing at Narayanganj Circuit House on Monday on the sensational seven murders.On April 27, Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam and his three associates and driver were abducted from Fatullah area in Narayanganj city. Hours into their abduction, senior lawyer of the Narayanganj District Judge’s Court, Chandan Kumar Sarker, and his driver were abducted on their way to capital Dhaka.Three days into their abduction, the bodies of six people, including that of Nazrul and Chandan, were recovered from the Shitalakhya and Dhaleshwari rivers on April 30. Besides, the body of Jahangir, the car driver of Nazrul Islam, was recovered from the Shitalakhya River on May 1.
