3 people missing after police raid in Jessore

Three people- Abul Kashem, Nuruzzaman and Billal Hossain have been missing after a police raid at an under construction building which the police claimed a den of Jamaat-e- Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir. The raid was carried out on March 10.
Kotwali police on March 10, 2016, arrested 11 construction workers while they were working to make the basement of a building owned by Rashed Ahmed, an activist of Islami Chhatra Shibir at Gaidgachhi under Jessore sadar upazila.
After the operation, Ilias Hossain, officer in-charge, Kotwali police station told New Nation that the police picked up 11 construction workers and seized some bomb making equipments while they were making a 38 feet long, 11 feet width and 8 feet depth ‘den’ of Jamaat- Shibir. ‘No Jamaat- Shibir men, however, were arrested,’ he added, ‘the building could be extended upwards.’
After the operation several newspapers printed photographs of the detained which showed the faces of the three.
Halima Khatun, mother of Abul Kashem, Abdus Sattar, bother of Nuruzzaman and Abdus Sattar Gazi, father of Billah Hossain, in a joint written statement said it is clear that the three were arrested by the Kotwali police. But they are no trying to conceal the matter. ‘It made us anxious’, the statement added.
