Three people including PEC examinee, died in separate incidents in Kochua and Matlab Uttar Upazila on Monday afternoon and evening.
In the first incident, a college student Rifat Majumder,19, son of Jamal Majumder died from electrocution at Palakhal village under Kochua Model Union.
Contacted, Palakhal Model UP Chairman Imam Hossain has told this correspondent , while Rifat along with his friend Sakib ,20, was trying to connect electric line with badmionton field beside their home, suddenly they both contacted live electric wire and were tremndously shocked due to green bamboos used for badminton court. At once they both were rushed to Kochua Health Complex where the on duty doctor Md Sohel Rana declared Rifat dead while his friend Sakib was admitted. Contacted, OC Kochua Thana OC Waliullah has confirmed the report.
In another incident at Naopura village under Gohat South Union of Kochua Upazila, Abu Ahad Rafi,12, a PEC examinee of Hajiganj Government Model Primary School, Hajiganj drowned in a pond while he wanted to pluck waterlilies from the waterbody beside his grandfather’s home at Naopura village. Then another little boy, his playmate, who was with Rafi, saw it. He informed the matter to his mother. Then at once Rafi was rescued and rushed to the local hospital where the on duty doctor declared him dead at about 3 pm. His father Bazlul Huque works abroad. He was the only son of his parents. His mother Hosneara, while fainting, crying and lamenting, said ‘ After 12 years of their conjugal life, Allah blessed them with a son. Today, Allah took him away”.
Contacted, Gohat Dakhshin UP Chairman Shahin Chowdhury and Rafi’s school teachers confirmed the report.
In yet another incident at Sepoykandi village under Matlab Uttar Upazila, an elderly woman Rahima Begum,50, wife of Billal Sarker, succumbed to her injuries at 1 pm on Monday while she was being rushed to DMCH by an ambulance from Chandpur General Hospital following her critical condition. She died at Sujatpur area at 1 pm. Earlier in the morning , due to a past enmity over landed property and over a trifling matter, Rahima was suddenly hit on her head with a piece of wood(fuel wood of tree) by her enraged brother- in- law Neyamotullah,40, at home (Sarkerbari). At this, she collapsed and became senseless. At once her son Nasir rushed her to Chandpur General Hospital after taking primary treatment at Matlab Uttar Heallth Complex.
Matlab Uttar Thana OC (Investigation), Murshedul Islam visited the spot and told this correspondent ‘Due to past enmity over landed property and over a trifling matter in the morning, the incident took place. Her body was sent to Chandpur General Hospital morgue on Tuesday morning after a murder case was filed with Matlab Uttar Thana on Monday night. None was arrested till writing this report.
