Former controller of Examinations GM Latif Khan and another two former officials of Chittagong University given six years imprisonment in two separate cases by a court in Chittagong yesterday. At the same time, court imposed penalty of tk.3 thousand to each in default to suffer more six months.
Divisional special Judge SM Ataur Rahman announced this verdict yesterday. The convicted former CU officials are Controller of Examinations GM Latif Khan, former Deputy controller Habibur Rahman and section officer Nasiruddin.
The convicted accused now absconding, sources said.
These two result forgery suits were filed on November 30, 1997 before the Anti corruption commission and the ACC Deputy Director Nurul Huda filed two s eparate cases of forgery before the Hathazari thana.
Court sources said in connivance of these officials, 5 students showed passed in 1983 and 48 students in 1992 with fake mark sheet and certificate of the university.
PP of divisional Judge court Advocate Mesbahuddin told that the punishment against these officials were given under BPC section 420, 477 and 478 and under section 5(2) of Anti corruption Act, sources said.
