Three members of a family were stabbed allegedly by some drug addicts at Baimael Pashchimpara village in Singair upazila early Saturday.
The victims were identified as Rokeya Begum,35, wife of Kahinur Islam, a resident of the village, her daughter Farida Akter,15, and son Farid Hossain,12.
Quoting locals, police said Mahsin, nephew of Kahinur, along with his three friends, stabbed Rokeya with sharp weapons as she tried to stop them from taking drugs in the dead of night.
The attackers also stabbed Farida and Farid while they tried to save their mother.
They were first admitted to Singair upazila health complex and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated.
