Three members of a family were killed as a truck hit their motorcycle on Chuadanga-Darshana road in Joyrampur Sheikhpara area of Damurhuda upazila on Friday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Jahid, 30, his sister Nasrin and her minor boy Nazmul Islam, hailing from Andulbaria village in Jibannagar upazila.
Abu Zihad, officer-in-charge of Damurhuda Police Station, said the
stone-laden truck crashed into the motorbike in the area around 4pm while Jahid along with his sister and nephew was returning home from the upazila headquarters, leaving Jahid and Nazmul dead on the spot and Nasrin and a pedestrian injured.
The injured were taken to ChuadangaSadarHospital where Nasrin succumbed to her injuries.
Outraged by the accident, locals blocked the Chuadanga-Jessore highway, torched the truck and vandalised several other vehicles, halting vehicular movement for one and half an hour.
On information, police rushed in and brought the situation under control.
