Three members of a family were killed and three others injured following an ambulance’s gas cylinder explosion at Chaturi Chowmuhani in Anwara upazila of Chattogram on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Mafizur Rahman, 70, a resident of Chanua union in Banshkhali upazila and his two daughters-in-law Jainab Begum, 20, and Bulbul Akhter, 25.
The injured are Nizam Uddin, 20, and Saifuddin, 24, sons of Mafizur and the ambulance driver’s assistant Munna, 30, said Anwara Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Dulal Mahmud.
He said that the gas cylinder of the ambulance, carrying Mafizur and his family members, exploded in Chaturi Choumuhani Bazar area around 2:30 pm. Mafizur was treated at Chattogram Medical College Hospital.
Tragedy struck them when Mafizur alongwith family members was returning home after release from hospital. Two people died on the spot and another on way to hospital, according to police.
