UNB, Benapole (Jessore) :
Three members of a family, including two minor girls, fell sick presumably after taking tea prepared with ‘adulterated tea leaves’ in Upashohor area of Jessore town on Saturday night.
The three were identified as Ashique Arafat, 14, son of Kazi Firoz Ahmed, Arafat’s sister Jerin Arafat, 8, and their cousin (maternal aunt’s daughter) Tithi, 10.
Locals, quoting family members, said moments after drinking tea at their house in the district suburb at about 8.00pm, Ashique, Jerin and Tithi fell sick.
They had dizziness, chest burning and convulsion and started shouting in pain.
Later in the night, they were rushed to Jessore 250-bed Hospital where they were given medication, including oxygen and intravenous saline.
Their condition improved next morning.
Physicians at the hospital said the boy and two minor girls fell sick for toxic chemic reaction of the tea they drunk, which, they suspect, might have been prepared with adulterated tea leaves.
