Three bodies of a family were recovered from the River Buriganga on Friday midnight.
The victims were identified as Rozina Begum, 42, her husband Matiur Rahman Motiur, 55 Momtaj Begum 50. A minor child named Abid (5), son of another deceased Matiur Rahman is still missing.
Abdur Razzak, Officer in Charge (OC) of Sadarghat River Police Station said the boat, carrying four members of a family, sank around 11pm after being hit by a launch ‘MV-Manik’, leaving them missing.
The bodies of Rozina and Momtaz were retrieved from the river at midnight, while Motiur Rahman’s body around 9am on Saturday, the OC added. “Bodies will be handed over to the respective families. Diving team of Fire Service will continue their efforts until the child is recovered,” (OC) also said.
