Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a special drive arrested four drug peddlers including three Myanmar nationals with huge yaba tablets and cash from Jaliapara area under Teknaf upazila of the district on early Friday.
The arrested are Md Ismail, 52, son of Siddik of Chowdhurypara area in Teknaf upazila, Md Rofiq, 18, son of Abdur Rahman, Nur Islam, 30, son of Abdus Shukkur and Ismail, 21, son of Abdul Hakim of Mongdu area in Myanmar.
Teknaf 42-BGB commander Lt Cl. Md Abu Jar Al Jahid said on a tip-off a BGB team led by him raided the house at the area and arrested the four smugglers with 40,000 pieces of yaba tablets and cash Tk 4,56,500. One smuggler, Md Amin, son of Abdul Hamid of Chowdhurypara managed to flee sensing BGB men’s presence.
A case against the drug peddlers is under process, said the BGB commander.
