Three more Rohingya refugees tested positive for Covid-19 in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Thursday.
All of them are being treated at isolation centre in the camp while their contacts were traced and placed in quarantine, he added.
A total of 162 samples were tested today at the field lab of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) set up at Cox’s Bazar Medical College, Prof Dr Anupam Barua, principal of the medical college, told The Daily Star.
Among those, 29 reports came positive for Covid-19, he said.
The new cases were: 12 from Cox’s Bazar Sadar upazila, seven from Ukhia upazila including the three Rohingya refugees, eight from Ramu upazila, one from Chakaria upazila, and one from Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram, Dr Anupam said.
So far 322 persons were diagnosed with Covid-19 as per tests conducted at the IEDCR field lab. Among those, 274 are locals from Cox’s Bazar district, 13 are Rohingya refugees at camps in Cox’s Bazar, 12 from Bandarban, and 23 from Chattogram district, he also said.
One person died of Covid-19 in Cox’s Bazar till today, Dr Anupam added.
