Two suspected drug traders and a listed pirate were killed in separate gunfights with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Teknaf upazila early Tuesday.
Two suspected drug traders Jahangir Kudrat, 32, son of Md Abdul Hakim, hailing from Mymensingh district and Md Arif Hossain, 30, son of Abdul Barek, hailing from Munshiganj, were killed in the reported gunfight with RAB in Keruntoli area.

to stop at a check post on Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf road, the criminals from inside the vehicle opened fire on them, said Lieutenant Mirza Shahed of RAB-7 Teknaf office.
For self-defense, the elite force members retaliated that triggered the gunfight.
After the gunfight, the RAB members recovered two bodies from the truck and one lakh pieces of Yaba tablets, two locally made arms and eight round bullets.
Besides, Deedarul Islam, 32, son of late Yusuf Nabi, resident of Uttar Amjakhali, one of the listed pirates under the Home Ministry and Prime Minister’s office, was killed in a reported gunfight with RAB in Kutubdia Dwip around 4 am.
Being informed that a gang of pirates were taking preparation for committing robbery, a team of RAB conducted drive in the area, said RAB-7 company commander Major Mehedi Hasan. Sensing the presence of elite force, the gang members opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back, triggering the gunfight. After the brief gunfight, they recovered the bullet-hit body of Deedarul. The elite force also recovered huge arms and ammunition from the spot.
