Detectives arrested three members of a question leaking syndicate from Bhatara area of the city on Thursday.
Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md Maruf Hossain Sarder said acting on a tip-off, a Cyber Crimes Prevention unit of the Detective Branch (DB) conducted a drive in the area on Thursday evening and arrested Zahidur Rahman Tuhin, Tanvir Ahmed Chowdhury and Md Syful Islam Khan in connection with question leaking.
The trio have been involved in taking money from the candidates of different examinations with assurances to leak questionnaires using Facebook and WhatApp. The detectives also seized two mobile phone handsets from their possession and blocked their Facebook and WhatsApp accounts.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrested revealed that they used to spread false news of questionnaire leak in the internet to attract the examinees, said deputy commissioner Maruf.
A case was filed against them with Bhatara Police Station under the Public Examination (Offences) Act 1980 and the ICT (Amendment) Act 2013.
