3 members of a family found dead in Barishal

Police have recovered the bodies of three members of a family from Saliyabakpur under Banaripara upazila of Barishal district on Saturday morning.
The deceased are Mariam Begum, 70, his son-in-law retired teacher Shafiqul Alam, 60, and her nephew Yusuf, 22, Police said.
Police recovered Mariam’s body from the balcony of the house and Shafiqul’s from another room. The body of Yusuf was found near a pond behind the house.
Barishal Superintendent of Police (SP) Saiful Islam said, “All the victims were found to have bled from their noses. Other than that, there were no signs of any wound on the bodies.
Besides, we have not heard anything about a break-in or robbery. We are looking into the incident, the police official said.
He also suspected that they might have died by suffocation at any time on Friday night.
Banaripara police OC Zafor Ahmed said that Yusuf’s hands and legs were tied with a rope.
The suspected killings could have stemmed from a land dispute, said OC Ahmed citing the locals.
Police have opened an inquiry over the incident and sent the bodies of the deceased to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for autopsy, he added.
According to locals, Mariam is the mother of one Abdur Rab, a migrant worker in Kuwait. Rab’s wife Asiya Begum and cousin Misrat Jahan were present at home. However, they were sleeping and couldn’t notice anything during the incident, and later they claimed to have found their relatives dead.
