The authority decided to cancel lease system for three launch ghats in next June to develop the standard of services and to stop woes of passengers.
The three launch ghats are Mongalmajhi ghat of Shariatpur, Kathalbari ghat of Madaripur and Kawrakandi ghat.
The decision was taken on Wednesday at a meeting of the Shipping Ministry on operating of different ghats by Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) at the meeting room of the ministry.
The meeting was told that the lease system will be canceled for all launch ghats of the country in phases.
Such decision will not hamper government revenue, it added.
