The government has been conducting institutional and non-institutional training on 75-trade for creating employment and self employment among unemployed youths across the country.
“Youth Development Directorate trained three lakh youths per year under the programme,” State Minister for Youths and Sports Dr Biren Sikder said, this, while replying to a starred question from opposition bench member Peer Fazlur Rahman of Sunamganj-4 in the Jatiya Sangsad on Wednesday.
He said the government has been implementing national service programme since 2009-2010 financial year aimed at generating employment by relating unemployment educated youths in the national development.
“Under this programme, the government allocated Taka 1,721 crore 71 lakh since launching the programme. Some 128 upazilas were brought under the programme,” the state minister informed the House.
He said some 1,28,896 youths got training till December 2017, of which 1,26,561 trained youths received temporary jobs in different organisations in public and private organisations for two years duration.
