Three lakh poor families have received food assistance from the Social Services Department in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.
Under the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Department of Social Services has given food assistance to the people, who faced severe livelihood problems due to the coronavirus pandemic, said a press release.
The Department of Social Services has been providing food aids since March 27. So far, food assistance have been provided to three lakh families across the country, including 17,915 families in Dhaka city.
On Wednesday food items were distributed among six hundred destitute and disabled people of low-income groups of Dhaka North City Corporation and Dhaka South City Corporation.
This food assistance programme will continue until the people’s livelihood becomes normal.
Besides, the Department of Social Service is providing food and cash assistance through district and upazila offices across the country.
