The country’s biggest Eid-ul-Azha Jamaat will be held at historic Sholakia ground in Kishoreganj keeping the tradition of the last 191 years. This Eid Jamaat started at Sholakia in 1827.
More than three lakh people are expected to attend the Eid congregation this year. Islamic thinker and Imam of Markas Mosjid will lead Eid prayer.
Dewan Haybat Khan, the sixth generation of Emperor Isha Khan, the ruler of Bengal, donated seven acres of land for the Sholakia Maidan.
Keeping security issue as a top priority, all necessary preparations have been completed for holding the country’s biggest Eid Jammat at Sholakia.
Police Super Md. Masrukur Rahman Khaled said that a four-tier security arrangement has been taken up in Kishoreganj town ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha. Three Platon BGB, RAB, 10 Platon Armed Police, Battalian Anser have deployed in the town.
There is no possible threat of militant attacks during the Eid-ul-Azha celebration due to massive security measures taken by the law enforcing agencies. At least 24 temporary check posts have been set up to monitor the largest Eid gathering, he said.
Khaled also said that for the first time this year three drone cameras would be there in vigilance in the area. Besides, there will be several metal detectors at different entrances and closed-circuit cameras inside and out side.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury said, all arrangements have been completed and prayers to be held at 9.00 am.
Sholakia will wear a festive look on the eve of Eid Jammat. Many welcome arches have been erected and roads decorated with colourful banners and buntings.

Kishoreganj district Administration has tightened security measures in the town and Sholakia ground ensuring pleasant Eid-ul-Azha celebration.
Meanwhile, the senior officials of the law enforcement and the intelligence agencies held a special meeting in the DC conference room with District Megistrate Md. Sarowar Morshed Chowdhury in the chair.
District Megistrate Md. Sarowar Murshed Chowdhury said, the total area will remain under CCTV cameras, dog squads, bomb disposal unit of RAB, and plain dressed law enforcers will patrol the area.
