Our Jessore Correspondent :Three convicted killers of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) leader Kazi Aref Ahmed were executed on Thursday night, 17 years after his death.Safayat Hossain Habib and Anwar Hossain Anu were hanged at 11:03pm while Rashedul Islam Jhantu at 11:15pm at Jessore Central Jail, said the jail superintendent Shahjahan Ali. The trio were top cadres of the outlawed Purbo Banglar Communist Party (PBCP-Laltu). Of the two remaining death row convicts, Elias Hossain died and Mannan Molla is absconding. Former JSD chief Aref and four others died after extremists opened fire during a rally on the grounds of Kalidashpur Primary School at Kushtia’s Doulatpur Upazila on February 16, 1999.
