Three persons, including a microbus driver, were killed and 20 others injured in separate incidents of the district on Friday The deceased were identified as Abdul Monaf, 26, Mohammad Hanif, 50, and Mohammad Musa, 52.
In the first incident, microbus driver Monaf and 20 others were injured when a microbus collided head-on with a passenger bus of a ‘Soudia Paribahan’ on Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway in Amju Miar Hat area under Patiya upazila of the district at around 1pm, Highway police sources said.
The injured were admitted to Patiya Upazila Health Complex where Monaf succumbed to his injuries, the sources said, adding that some of the injured were shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
In the second incident, Hanif was critically injured after his borrowers beat him severely as he asked them to repay his loan-money at Raozan municipality area under Raozan upazila of the district in the early hours of today, police said.
He was admitted to Raozan Upazila Health Complex but he succumbed to his injuries on his way to the CMCH, police said, adding that the body was sent to the morgue for autopsy.
