3 killed in road mishaps

At least three persons were killed and two injured in two separate accidents in two districts in two days.
Khaagrachhari Correspondent says : A helper of a truck was killed and two others including its driver and distributor were injured in a road accident at Zeromile area under Sadar Upazila here on Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as truck helper Mohammad Azad, 22, of Borodighi Notunpara under Hathazari upazila in Chittagong district.
Meanwhile, critically injured truck driver Mohammad Yusuf, 55, son of Siddique Khan, of the same area and Asmot Ali, son of Abdur Rahman of Maria village under Charghat upazila in Rajshahi district, were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Superintendent of Police Md Mazid Ali said the lentil-laden truck bound for Khagrachhari from Chittagong fell into a roadside ditch at the said area, leaving the helper killed on the spot and two others injured.
Rangamati correspondent adds: The driver of a human hauler and his assistant have died as their vehicle overturned in Kaptai upazila of Rangamati district.
Rangamati police said the incident occurred near Barhakhola BGB check-post under the Raikhali union on Thursday night.
 According to police, assistant Saddam Hossain, 37, died on the spot while driver ‘Jabed’, 47, succumbed to his injuries at the Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
 Rangamati Superintendent of Police Tariqul Hasan said, “The vehicle overturned as the driver tried to ignore a red signal at the check-post with full speed”.
 Another man was also injured in the incident but police could not confirm his identity.
 According to police, the vehicle, called Chander Garhi locally, was carrying wood.
 Chandraghona police said a group of local people torched the BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh) check-post after the incident, triggering a clash that left at least 10 people wounded.
 Police did not say why the vehicle was trying to flee.
 Officer-in-Charge of Chandraghona Police Station Mohammad Ali said police personnel has been deployed to avert any untoward incident, and the area remained calm.
