Three people were killed and another was injured in separate road accidents in Jessore and Noakhali districts early Friday.
In Jessore, a sand-laden truck collided with a pick-up van on Jessore-Chuknagar road around 5 am, leaving Azam, 17, son of Mazidul Islam of Dumuria village dead on the spot and Taposh Kundu, 30, son of Binoy Kundu and Sajal of same village, severely injured, said police. Binoy later died at Monirampur Health Complex due to excessive bleeding, and the condition of Sajal is critical, said on-duty doctor of the health complex Zahirul Haque.
Victim Quaid Azam and injured Sajal both passed the Secondary School Certificate examination this year. Police said they seized the truck but its driver and his assistant managed to flee the scene.
Meanwhile, another man was killed as a good laden-truck plunged into a roadside ditch when its driver lost control over the steering in Senbagh area of Noakhali, said the assistant station officer of Chaumohoni fire service station Md Nazrul Islam. Local police and firefighters jointly recovered the body.
The deceased was identified as Polash, driver of the truck, hailed from Uttar Mohammadpur village of Senbagh upazila, he said. The body was handed over to the victim’s family members, he added.
