Three men, said to be bandits, have been killed in an encounter with the RAB in the Sundarbans.RAB says those killed belonged to the ‘Shirsho Bahini’, a gang of robbers operating in the area. The ‘gunbattle’ took place on Tambulbuniya canal of Shoronkhola range in the eastern division of the Sundarbans on Tuesday, said Major Anwarul Kabir, deputy commander of RAB-8. The RAB personnel recovered 16 firearms after raiding the gang’s hideout, Kabir said. Two of those killed were identified as ‘Quader’ and ‘Kalyan’. The third could not be identified as yet. “The bandits fired at the RAB raiding party, triggering the encounter, which lasted for 25 minutes. Later the RAB discovered three bodies and found fire arms on the spot,” said Kabir. He, however, could not provide more details of the raid.- bdnews24.com
